Istiqaam is designed with a privacy-first approach. We collect only what is necessary to provide the app's functionality:
- Account & Sign-up Information: When you create an account / sign up, we collect your email address, chosen display name, and authentication credentials to securely back up your progress and sync your account across devices.
- Prayer Records: Your daily Salah tracking data (which prayers were marked). This data is linked to your account for backup and consistency tracking.
- Device Sensor Data: The Qibla Compass feature uses your device's magnetometer/heading sensor. This data is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide the core app experience:
- Displaying your personal prayer calendar and streaks
- Computing aggregate community rankings (if you opt in)
- Providing Qibla direction functionality
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the app's stated features.
3. Data Sharing & Third Parties
Your individual prayer records are never shared with anyone — not with other users, not with advertisers, not with third-party analytics services.
If you opt into Community Rankings, only an aggregate consistency score (e.g., "85% this week") is shared. Individual prayer-by-prayer records remain private.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your prayer data is stored locally on your device. We use industry-standard security practices to protect any data that may be synced to our servers for community features.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data at any time within the app
- Delete your data and account entirely (see our Data Deletion page)
- Opt out of community features at any time
- Export your prayer history
6. Children's Privacy
Istiqaam does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app is designed for use by individuals of all ages, and parental guidance is recommended for younger users.
